A great way to see our spectacular mountain back country is to pack into the Gros Ventre mountains from the Darwin Ranch. Guests ride the high trails, cross creeks, ascend mountain passes, witness wildlife, and view miles and miles of wildflower countryside without a soul in sight except their fellow travelers.
Your carefully picked horses will be saddled and waiting for you the morning you head out. Grab a saddle bag with your picnic lunch from the kitchen, stuff in your extra personal gear for the day, tie your sweater and raincoat onto the saddle, and you’re ready to go. Your wrangler will help you mount, adjust your stirrups, provide a little friendly advice as needed, and you’re on your way. It's a beautiful sight as the pack string stretches out along the meadow trail. After several hours of rocking in the saddle and viewing the unbelievable scenery, the pack train stops for a picnic by a special overlook or lake. After lunch and a mini-snooze, though you’re still not really ready to move on, your curiosity is piqued by the next scenic gem that beckons you on down the trail, around the corner, over the ridge…
A day in the saddle and you realize your horse is now your new best friend, steady and trusted to get you through the high and wild adventures to come. A campfire, good food, friendly conversation, and a warm bag to sleep in are all you need to complete a perfect day. This is the great escape. This is the best of the West!
RATES
To conform with industry standards and to make comparison shopping easier, Pack Trip rates are quoted by the DAY. (Note that the number of days on a Pack Trip is one more than the number of nights.) The minimum Pack Trip is two persons for 3 days (2 nights).

All tipping is left to your discretion. No service charge will be added to your bill.
There is a $100 per person per night rebate for guests staying at the Ranch.
DEPOSITS: A deposit of $1500 is required at the time of booking, regardless of party size. Requests for deposit refunds received less than a month in advance cannot be granted, but we can try to reschedule your trip sometime in the same season if at all possible.
No deposits are required for guests concurrently booked at the Ranch.
